PAES Scan Lab Management System

The PAES Scan Lab Management System turns paper scoring into a few seconds on a device. Students scan a QR code, supervisors score what they see, and the data flows straight into the assessment record. No retyping. No lost forms. No data-entry evenings.

How it works

Four steps that replace an afternoon of paper-chasing.

Student scans in

Each student has a personal QR code. One scan — first name or alias only. No personal data leaves the device.

Supervisor scores

Standard PAES criteria on-screen. Tap to score each task right there in the lab — no paper, no clipboard.

Data syncs

Scores flow automatically into the student record. Works offline and syncs when a connection returns — nothing is lost.

Report is generated

At the end of the cycle, pull the report directly from the synced data. IEP-ready, no manual assembly.

Built for classrooms, not data scientists

The app runs on iPad (iOS 15.5 or later) and Android tablets (6.0 or later). Open the app, pick a student, score the task.
Scores go straight into the student record, so the end-of-cycle report is built from the synced data rather than an evening of retyping.

Privacy by design

Many schools and districts have strict data protection requirements. The PAES Scan Lab Management System is built for them.

QR code + alias only

Students are identified by a QR code and a first name or alias. Nothing more is collected, stored, or transmitted.

No PII collected

No personally identifiable information is collected or stored in the app at any point in the assessment cycle.

Encrypted syncs

All data syncs are encrypted in transit.

Local-only mode

Districts with strict network policies can operate the app in Local-only mode: zero external data transmission

What's next

We are exploring voice-first and accessibility-first modes — including full voice interaction for supervisors and students with low vision. In scope for the next product cycle.
